Today is the perfect time to start introducing the team behind TheGayWrestler.com! We’re kicking things off with the founder: Regnade. We asked this Dutch wrestler a few questions to get to know him better.
Introduce Yourself
My name is Regnade, born in 1993 in the Netherlands, and I have been actively involved in the gay wrestling scene for almost 8 years now. Before that, I always wrestled with friends. I have been involved in the sports world throughout my career and work out an average of 5 times a week.
Why did you start TheGayWrestler.com?
As I mentioned, I started in the community 8 years ago. Under a YouTube video of two wrestlers, I saw a post from a fellow Dutchman looking for a wrestling partner. I emailed him, and within a week, we were on the mat together. He introduced me to the community, for which I am still grateful! During the early days, I found it very difficult to gather information about what was possible on the mat. Since then, I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a central platform with all the information and some inspiration. After a few years, I finally went through with it, and here we are!
What do you hope to achieve with TheGayWrestler.com?
I hope we can create a large platform that is inspiring and educational for every member of our community, but especially for beginners.
How often are you on the mat?
Not as often as I would like. As you get older, other aspects of life start to take priority. Occasionally, a friend challenges me, and I go all in. However, I notice that my interest in wrestling is shifting from actively participating to training/coaching and watching.
Would you prefer a huge victory or a major defeat?
A major defeat. Don’t get me wrong: I am extremely competitive. A major defeat allows me to learn a great deal and improve.
Favorite style of wrestling?
Definitely submission wrestling.
