King of the Ring – Wrestling Variations

In The Gay Wrestling Guide we want to give you some inspiration for your wrestling matches. In this article we are going to explain a match variation of submission wrestling.

King of the Ring

When more than two people enter the mat, King of the Ring is an excellent match setup. Before the match starts, a time limit is agreed upon. By drawing lots, it is decided which two wrestlers will start on the mat. The wrestler who submits loses the round and leaves the mat; the winner earns a point and remains. This continues until the time limit expires, and the wrestler with the most points wins. In the event of a tie, the two wrestlers with the most points compete in a final and decisive round.

Rules
  • Standard submission rules
    • Submission wrestling does not involve punches, kicks, or other strikes.
    • Certain techniques, such as striking, eye-gouging, or spine locks, are prohibited to ensure safety.
  • Set a time limit for the match
  • Draw to determine with two wrestlers will start
  • A round ends when someone submits
  • If you win a round you will get 1 point and you get to stay on the mat
  • If you lose a round you have to leave the mat
  • After a round a new wrestler will join the winner on the mat. The wrestler who joins the winner is the wrestler who has had the most rest between rounds
  • When the time limit expires, the wrestler with the most amount of points wins the match
  • If there are two wrestlers with the same amount of points, they will do a final and decisive round
  • If there are three or more wrestlers with the same amount of points, the time limit will be extended for 15 more minutes. The wrestler with the most points (in total of all rounds including overtime) wins the match. If there are two or more wrestlers with the same amount of points there will be another overtime of 15 minutes.
Variations
  • You can choose to start in a standing position or on your knees
  • You can allow grabbing the opponents clothes for grip
  • You can include bodypunches to break out of submission holds
  • You can agree on excluding some submission holds or limit the amount of times a specific submission hold can be used
  • You can add an oil wrestling component to the King of the Ring
